2nd winter Iceland Gull, Galway

Like many of the Iceland Gulls of this winter's invasion into north-western Europe, this big 2nd winter bird was clearly hungry and showed little fear of me. Almost Glaucous Gull-like in character, I assume from its size that it was a male bird.

Brilliant "gobbling" shot, what is it, bread? Maybe we have been too quick off the mark in looking for them, they must still be coming to Lothian...

Half a slice of brown in one go, if I remember correctly! We'll get them, I'm sure, but I'm not confident about big numbers. I have my fingers crossed for some NW winds followed by NE - that might work for us...

Anyway, I think I'll have a look at Alnwickhill tomorrow...

Good luck, not sure I'll get out much, the dreaded lurgy is upon me...
